All children in these studioMAP classes progressively learn the art of painting & drawing supported with our Art-with-a-Map program

What age to start?

Generally our children's classes ages begin from about 6 years old and range through to pre-teens.

Classes are designed for students-only however some very young students sometimes may require a parents to initially 'settle' a newcomer. Adults are not expected to remain.

All children's class are painting and drawing based with some small forays into collage and other materials. Pencils, water-colour and acrylic paints are the foundation material we supply and teach with. Our purpose is not necessarily to constantly introduce new materials and mediums etc, but rather to analyse and find individual solutions
Group and individual demonstrations and technical issues are practised and discussed throughout our classes. We are there to assist, guide and nurture art development in all students and at their own rate and always with an eye on progressing skills, ability, understanding and enjoyment of art.

At studioMAP all students select their own art projects, themes and subjects based on their own interests and enjoyment. We assist this process when required. Student projects usually go on for a few weeks depending on the style, approach and ability of the student.
At students can learn traditional skills as well as modern and contemporary art. We visit galleries and generally express and engage collectively with an interest and enjoyment in all things 'art'.
We supply tuition, workshop access, and all basic materials like paper, cardboard, paints, most tools and other basic mediums. Smocks/aprons and individual storage is also supplied. Children's classes all have a short snack-break about halfway through class. (please supply own snack/drinks etc).

studioMAP also offers an Illustration workshop every Friday during terms for students who wish to participate in illustration in area such as Poke-Art, Manga styles, comic as well as general and graphic illustration. see Here
