About

This coming July, during week two of the ACT school Holidays, studioMAP is presenting a series of afternoon workshop in the fields of Painting, Drawing, Japanese and General IIllustration and Art Diorama modeling. We also have digital drawing pads and welcome participants utilising their own technology devices while in the workshops.

The emphasis is on gaining knowledge and practicing these arts, as well as introducing and supporting the wider traditional visual arts. These workshops are also a great way for prospective longer-term participants (term-based after school and Saturdays during school term) participants and parents to get to know and try studioMAP.

Spaces are limited to a maximum of eighteen participants.

Who’s it for?

For young people who are interested in art in general but focused on drawing / painting / illustration. Participants can do either single illustration elements or blend and develop all of these areas of visual investigation. Generally, our youngest students begin from about six years old and range through to early-teens (12 -13yrs)

Beginners are welcome and all participants receive technical support and individual nurturing. Children’s Holiday Art workshops are designed for students-only participation (non-Adult) however we understand some young students sometimes require an initial settling in period.  Like at school grown-ups are not expected to remain beyond a short settle-in period.

Even more details – What happens in Holiday Art workshops?

Our Summer Holiday workshops cover and reflect our regular during-school-term painting and drawing classes. However, here we elevate Illustration art in a workshop-style suitable for children who wish to participate more in diverse illustration areas such as Pokemon-Art, Manga, Japanese and related graphic styles, cartoon and comic art as well as more general and graphic illustration. Standard and traditional painting and drawing is included.

This class also includes access to graphic tablets, digital pens and digital screens. We use pencils, paint brushes, a large range of coloured marker pens, supported with water-colours, digital media and acrylic paints and many other studio resources and workshop tools.

Group and individual demonstrations concerning technical issues will be practiced. All students select their own art ‘main’ project themes and include subjects based on their own interests and enjoyment.

Our staff assist with all this and nurture visual art development in all participants.

studioMAP supplies all the tuition and all the basic materials like paper, cardboard and other basic surface material. Protective smocks/aprons and individual student storage is also supplied.

Our Holiday workshops do include a short snack-break about halfway through the class (students supply their own snack/drinks etc) studioMAP has close and easy entry access, plenty of adjacent free car parking and is warmly heated and yes and it’s BIG fun…
