Teen only classes are on Saturday 2.30-4.30pm
All classes learn the art of painting and drawing incorporating Art-with-a-Map.
Importantly teen students work individually on theeir own project with Art-with-a-Map taught and instructed, through their projects and supported with demonsrations and one-to-one learning.
What age to start?
The Teens-Only classes ages range from about 15 – 18 yrs old.
We offer flexibility in timing when it best suits the individual to move from a younger age group class to Teen-only classes and when to transition. Participants can be assured that if things don’t work out then returning to the younger category is made easy.
Obviously, this is a negotiable area. Some teens, although actually teenaged are better suited to an ‘early teen’ class that has a mix of ages perhaps including pre-teens and that’s OK.
Sooner or later though, most teens prefer all-teen classes.

What goes on in our teen classes?
Students can learn or focus on traditional skills or and as well explore modern and more contemporary art. Like in all classes and workshops at stuidomAP, our Art-with-a-Map curriculum is implemented and designed to instruct and fulfill the technical requirements across all the common visual-art formats and styles.
As the abilities and art skills vary much more as students get older, a greater emphasis is on more individually specific – technical requirements.
Group and individual demonstrations and technical issues are still practiced however each teen student has a more tailored approach to their practice, support and learning.
At studioMAP all students select their own art projects, based on their own interests, enquires and themes. We do assist in their selection process when required. Projects usually go on for a few weeks (or longer) depending on the style, approach, enjoyment and abilities of the student. Teen students take-aim, develop and take control of the processes and gain the means of developing a visual art expression.
Portfolio development is also offered. We also visit galleries and always encourage discussion about the arts from traditional to experimental practices in the visual arts and yes, it’s fun too!
studioMAP supplies all the tuition, workshop access and all the basic materials; like paper, cardboard, paints, tools and many other basic mediums. Protective smocks/aprons and individual student storage are also supplied.
Teen classes include a self-regulated snack-break (students supply their own snack/drinks etc).
