All classes learn the art of painting and drawing incorporating Art-with-a-Map.

What age to start?
A few of our ‘junior’ classes still have young teens in them. Obviously this is a negotiable area. Some teens, although actually teenage are better suited to a ‘junior’ class that has a mix of ages perhaps including pre-teens and that’s OK. Sooner or later though, most teens prefer an all-teen class so we offer that too. If you are not sure please feel free to discuss this further.

What goes on in our classes?
Group and individual demonstrations and technical issues are practiced and discussed throughout our teen classes. All abilities and skills vary. Some students are confident and clear, others are reserved. We are there to assist, guide and nurture art development.

At studioMAP all students select their art projects, based on their own interests and themes. We can assist this process when required. These projects usually go on for a few weeks depending on the style, approach, enjoyment and ability of the student. Teen students take-aim, develop and take control of the processes and means and of visual art expression. All teen projects are supported with one-to-one assistance and all students learn our Art MAPs progressively both, individually and at times collectively.

Students can learn traditional skills as well as modern and contemporary art. Portfolio development is also offered. We visit galleries and generally express an interest and enjoyment in all things art and more.

It’s fun too!

We supply tuition, workshop access, and all basic materials like paper, cardboard, paints, most tools and other basic mediums. Smocks/aprons and individual storage is also supplied. Teen class has a short self-regulated break (please supply own snack/drinks etc).

Children’s classes are available after school and Saturdays.
For times see Term Timetable & Booking Form

All children in these studioMAP classes progressively learn the art of painting and drawing supported with our Art-with-a-Map program.

What age to start?

Generally our children’s classes ages begin from about 6 years old and range through to pre-teens.

Classes are designed for students-only, however some very young students sometimes may require a parents to initially ‘settle’ a newcomer. Adults are not expected to remain.

All children’s classes are painting and drawing based with some small forays into collage and other materials. Pencils, water-colour and acrylic paints are the foundation material we supply and teach with. Our purpose is not necessarily to constantly introduce new materials and mediums etc, but rather to analyse and find individual solutions.
Group and individual demonstrations and technical issues are practised and discussed throughout our classes. We are there to assist, guide and nurture art development in all students and at their own rate and always with an eye on progressing skills, ability, understanding and enjoyment of art.

At studioMAP all students select their own art projects, themes and subjects based on their own interests and enjoyment. We assist this process when required. Student projects usually go on for a few weeks depending on the style, approach and ability of the student.

All students can learn traditional skills as well as modern and contemporary art. We visit galleries and generally express and engage collectively with an interest and enjoyment in all things ‘art’.
We supply tuition, workshop access, and all basic materials like paper, cardboard, paints, most tools and other basic mediums. Smocks/aprons and individual storage is also supplied. Children’s classes all have a short snack-break about halfway through class (please supply own snack/drinks etc).

studioMAP also offers an Illustration workshop every Friday during terms for students who wish to participate in illustration in area such as Poke-Art, Manga styles, comic as well as general and graphic illustration. See Here
